External Light Source for CPO

ELSFP (External Light Source Fixed Pointer) modules provide continuous-wave lasers to CPO switches. Rather than integrating lasers inside the switch package, ELSFP places lasers in a separate, accessible module connected via fiber arrays.

This architecture simplifies switch thermal management — lasers are external — but requires high-performance thermal substrates to manage heat from dense multi-wavelength laser arrays.

OIF-ELSFP-02.0 Standard

Industry-standard architecture for 8-channel CW laser arrays in ELSFP modules.

8-Channel Architecture

Each ELSFP module typically contains 8 CW-DML lasers at 100Gb/s each = 800Gb/s per module.
